Anna Ciddor

Anna started writing and illustrating historical stories when she was about 8 years old. You can read a fictional version of her 1960s childhood in 52 Mondays where she brought back to life the horse and cart delivering milk, the birds pecking at the foil lids of the glass bottles as they sat on the doorstep, the newsboys singing out ‘He-erald’ in the city, and ladies in white gloves operating the lifts at Myer. Anna’s first career was as a maths teacher, but when she married and had kids she decided to have a go at getting a book published, and the rest is history! Anna was thrilled to be awarded the Nance Donkin Literary Award by the SWW VIC in 2021.

Anna's books include: Runestone, Allen and Unwin 2002, Children's Book Council of Australia Notable Book 2003, shortlisted for several children’s choice book awards; Wolfspell, Allen and Unwin 2003; Stormriders, Allen and Unwin, 2004; Night of the Fifth Moon, Allen and Unwin, 2007; The Family with Two Front Doors, Allen and Unwin 2016, Children's Book Council of Australia Notable Book 2017; 52 Mondays, Allen and Unwin 2019, and The Boy Who Stepped Through Time, Allen and Unwin 2021, longlisted for the inaugural ARA HNSA Historical Fiction Prize CYA category.
